About the department

The Department of Special Pedagogy was established on 1 September 1994 on the basis of requests from students, experts and the wider public and thanks to the understanding and support from the management of the faculty and university. When the programme of special pedagogy was being outlined, the current trends of inclusive education of pupils with special educational needs in this country and abroad were taken into account.

For the period of 2007-2013, the Department of Special Pedagogy won the Research project Special needs of pupils in the context of the Framework Educational Programme for Elementary Education ID – 0021622443

On 1 February 2010 the Institute for Research in Inclusive Education was established (IVIV).

You will find the Department of Special Pedagogy on the 1st and 2nd floors of the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University – Poříčí 9, Brno.

IVIV is located in the new CVIDOS building at Poříčí 31, Brno.

Study

The current conception of special pedagogy deals with the problems of an individual with special educational needs from birth to old age, with the period of early and pre-school age, the periods of school age, adolescence, adult age and old age.

The reflection of the facts stated above forms the basis of the current conception of study of special pedagogy.

We offer studies at the level of Bachelors, follow-up Masters and doctoral degrees in the full-time and combined modes.
