General information about the state final examination

  • Do I have to apply for the state final exam (hereinafter szz)? By what date?
    Yes, you have to apply for the szz. Forms and all basic information are available on the web of PdF in the section State final examinations.
  • Who should I submit my application for the state final examination to (szz)?
    Submit the application only once, either in the office hours to your study clerk, or you can put it into the letterbox of the Study Department, or send it by post to the address of the Study Department.

Splitting the state final examination

  • Can I split the state final examination (hereinafter szz)?
    Yes, in the current academic year it is possible to split the szz. It is conditioned by completing all study requirements required by the given programme:
    • completing all compulsory and optional courses
    • gaining the necessary number of credits (Bachelors 180, Follow-up Masters 120, Masters 300).
  • If I am splitting the state final examination, is it possible to leave the defence of Bachelor´s or Master´s thesis to last?
    Yes, but together with the defence of Bachelor´s or Master´s thesis it is necessary to leave another subject of the state final examination to be the last part of szz. The subject does not have to be related to the Bachelor´s or Master´s thesis.
  • Do I have to gain 15 or 45 credits, respectively, in the last semester of my studies when I apply for the state final examination and I am going to finish my studies?
    If it is your really last semester, in other words, that you are applying for the whole or a part of the final state exam in this semester, it is not necessary to gain 15 or 45 credits, respectively.
  • If my mark from one of the subjects of szz is “F“, when do I have to sign up for a resit?
    On the nearest date when the state final examinations are scheduled (every year always in February or May, June).

  • When I split szz and I pass one part of szz, do I have to interrupt my study or can I continue in my study?
    Both options are possible – you will either interrupt the study after completing a part of szz (by written request) or continue studying further on the condition that you gain 15 credits per semester (or 45 credits for the last two semesters) and apply for enrolment in the next semester.
  • When should I report that I am returning to study?
    Apply in writing. You must deliver the request to the Study Department a week before the first part of szz at the latest.
