Conditions and criteria for admission to study at the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University in programmes taught in English

I.    The basic conditions for admission to study according to § 48, Act No 111/1998 Coll., Higher Education Act

  1. The condition for admission to study in the Bachelors programme is completion of secondary or secondary specialized education. If the secondary school leaving certificate was issued abroad and if an international agreement does not state otherwise, the applicant must possess a decision on recognition of qualifications gained abroad issued by a regional authority or the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MŠMT).
  2. The condition for admission to study in a follow-up Masters programme is gaining a Bachelor´s degree. If the Bachelors degree was granted abroad and if an international agreement does not stipulate otherwise, the applicant must possess a decision on recognition of degree gained abroad issued by a public higher education institution or by MŠMT.

II.    Other conditions for admission to study according to § 49, Act No 111/1998 Coll., Higher Education Act

  1. The condition for admission to study is ranking among the best applicants in the order which is derived from the evaluation of all obligatory documents in accordance with the criteria in Section III.
  2. The condition for admission to study in the Masters programme which is a follow-up of a Bachelors programme may be, in programmes and fields of study stipulated by the Dean, relatedness of a completed Bachelors programme field of study to the chosen field of study in a Masters programme. 

III.    Criteria for evaluation of admission procedure according to § 49, par. 5, Act No 111/1998 Coll., Higher Education Act

  1. The applicant files and pays for an electronic application for study through the Information System of Masaryk University.
  2. By the end of the period for the submission of applications at the latest, the applicant delivers documents in Czech or in English in accordance with par. 3 to 6 of this section to the Office for Studies, Faculty of Education, Masaryk University, Poříčí 7, 603 00 Brno, Czech Republic.
  3. A legalized copy of documents certifying completion of secondary education in the case of applicants for study in a Bachelors programme, or a legalized copy of a Bachelor´s diploma in the case of applicants for study in a follow-up Masters programme, including the records of previous study – a summary of completed courses and marks gained, a list of subjects in final exams and their evaluation.
  4. Curriculum vitae.
  5. A letter of application (max. 500 words).
  6. Official certificate of language competence according to the Common European Framework of Reference: Learning, Teaching, Assessment. Applicants for study in the Bachelors programme should also prove that they have attained level B2 in English. Applicants for study in the Masters programme prove that they have attained level C1 in English. Applicants who completed their studies in an English speaking country (e.g. Australia, Ireland, Canada, New Zealand, United States of America, United Kingdom) and attended the establishment for at least two years are not obliged to send a certificate proving their language competence.
  7. The documents will be judged by an expert Admissions Board appointed by the Dean. The order of applicants will be determined and a decision about admission to study in a programme will be made on the basis of a comprehensive evaluation of the required documents.
  8. Applicants will prove by the date of enrolment in their studies at the latest completion of the obligatory requirements (Section I par. 1 in the case of applicants for study in a Bachelors programme, or Section I par. 2 in the case of applicants for study in a follow-up Masters programme).

IV.    Force and effect

  1. These Conditions and criteria for admission to study at the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University, were approved by the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Education, Masaryk University, on 3 February 2015 and they come into force and effect on 3 February 2015.
